Frequently Asked Questions...

  1. What does a celebrant do?

A celebrant designs and delivers personalised ceremonies such as weddings, vow renewals, baby namings, and special events, tailored to reflect your values, story, and style.

  2. Can we have our ceremony anywhere we like?

Yes! Ceremonies can be held almost anywhere—parks, gardens, beaches, private homes—provided it’s safe, legal, and accessible.

  3. Are you authorised to perform legal marriages?

Yes, I am an authorised celebrant and can legally solemnise marriages in Australia.

  4. What identification do we need to provide?

You’ll need evidence of your date and place of birth, such as original birth certificates or passports, plus photo ID, and evidence of any previous divorce or death of a spouse, if applicable.

  5. How much notice do we need to give for a wedding?

Legally, the Notice of Intended Marriage must be lodged at least one month before the wedding date.

  6. Can we write our own vows?

Absolutely! I’ll help guide you if needed, and ensure your vows meet legal requirements (for weddings).

  7. Can we include cultural or religious elements?

Of course! I welcome and encourage the inclusion of rituals or traditions that reflect your background and beliefs.

  8. Do you use a microphone or PA system?

Yes, I provide a quality PA system to ensure all guests can hear clearly.

  9. Do you travel for ceremonies?

Yes! I am happy to travel anywhere within Victoria, and beyond. Travel fees will apply for locations outside of the 50km radius from Shepparton or Avenel. If I am required to fly interstate, the cost of travel to the nearest airport will apply, plus the cost of the return airfare.

  10. What happens if you're unwell or unable to attend on the day?

In the rare event I’m unable to attend, I have a network of trusted celebrants who can step in. All legal documents and scripts are shared securely to ensure a seamless handover.

  11. Do you offer ceremony rehearsals?

Yes, I highly recommend a rehearsal, especially for weddings. It helps everyone feel more confident and ensures the ceremony flows smoothly on the day.

  12. How far in advance should we book?
Weddings and weekend ceremonies can book out 6–12 months in advance, so it’s best to secure your date early. Other ceremonies are more flexible.

  13. Can we include children or pets in the ceremony?
Absolutely! Including kids or pets can add a beautiful, personal touch. I can help plan how to involve them meaningfully and manage any logistics.

  14. Will you help us plan the ceremony structure?

Of course! I work with you to create a smooth, meaningful ceremony with the right flow and tone.

  15. Do you help with ceremony wording and readings?
Yes, I provide a range of resources including sample readings, vow inspiration, and ceremony templates, and I’m happy to assist with wording to suit your style. You can find these on the Ceremony Ready section of my website!

  16. How do we book and pay?

A deposit secures your date. The balance is due one month before your ceremony.
